Integrative Approach to Work Injuries

An approach to patient care that is focused on return to work and scientific evidence is gaining more and more support in the medical arena. The authors report, “The study demonstrated positive effects of including chiropractic services in integrative care when treating compensable neck and/or back pain” (Aspegren et al., 2009, p. 770).

When you or someone that you love is injured, there are many things to think about.  Getting well is usually the first and getting well as quickly as possible also important.  Working with a team of professionals that handle injuries and the administrative work that goes along with them is a key component of navigating an injury situation.  In 2009 a research study was published that states, “The purpose of this study is to report on the integrative care for the treatment of injured workers with neck or back pain referred to a doctor of chiropractic from a medical or osteopathic provider” (Aspegren, Enebo, Miller, White, Akuthota, Hyde & Cox, 2009, p. 765).
